Featuring subscription upgrades and pricing on your site
The Pricing block in the Website Builder lets you showcase multiple subscription tiers (including a free tier), feature subscription gifts, recommendations, and more on a dedicated Upgrade page or anywhere else on your site.
Before you begin: Pricing block essentials
Many of our pre-built website templates include an Upgrade page that features a Pricing block, which can easily be customized and reused. You can also add a Pricing block to any of your site pages. However, you’ll need to be on a paid beehiiv plan in order to publish a page with a Pricing block.
Additionally, since the options in the Pricing block are tied to your Paid Subscriptions, you’ll need to complete the following setup steps first:
- Connect your Stripe account: Connect your Stripe account to enable payment processing. This is required to create and manage multiple subscription tiers.
- Enable Paid Subscriptions: In your Paid Subscriptions settings, the option to Enable Paid Subscriptions for your readers must be toggled on, showing in color. This allows readers to subscribe to your paid or free tiers.
- Set up at least one subscription tier: Create one or more subscription tiers, refer to this article for guidance. Once tiers exist, you can also enable a free tier (see steps below).
After completing these initial steps, you’ll be ready to customize your Pricing block and reuse it across other pages on your site.
How to customize a Pricing block
- Open your publication site in the Website Builder.
- Access the Pricing block. If your template includes an Upgrade page, you can access it from the left toolbar. Click the Pages icon, then select Upgrade.
Otherwise, click the + icon in the left toolbar and select the Pricing block under Synced, then drag and drop in onto the desired place on your canvas.
-
The Paid Subscription tiers you have set up in your account will appear in the Pricing block on the canvas (unless you have placeholder content enabled). Click the Pricing block to open its settings in the design panel on the right, then select Tiers.
Offer a free subscription tier
- In the Tiers modal that appears, you’ll need to enable the free tier to display it on the canvas. Simply click the eye icon next to Free Tier on the left to make it visible.
-
Create your free tier subscription selections as desired, then click Save in the bottom right corner.
Free tier selections include:
- Name: Rename your tier or keep it as ‘Free Tier’.
- Button Text: Customize the button text (defaults to ‘Keep current plan’).
- Currency: Choose the same currency used for your Paid Subscriptions.
-
Features: Add benefits to be featured on the card or leave blank if none.
- Type a feature into the field and click Add feature.
- Click and drag to reorder features or click the X to remove them.
Customize your subscriber tiers
- Click on Tiers in the design panel to reopen the modal. Select a tier on the left to edit it.
From the modal you can:
- Click the eye icon on the left to hide or show a tier on the page.
- Click Edit your paid subscriptions here to open your Paid Subscriptions settings and adjust the specifics of your subscription tiers.
- If multiple price tabs are enabled, toggle Split tabs into separate cards to display them individually.
- Drag and drop tiers on the left to reorder them.
- After making your changes, click Save in the bottom corner of the modal.
Offer gift subscriptions
- With the Pricing block selected on the canvas, you can add the option to give a subscription as a gift. Navigate to the Gift section in the design panel on the right.
Click on YES next to Enabled to see it reflect on the canvas, then adjust the gift design settings as desired.
Include a checkout option
- You can also add a convenient checkout option to the Pricing block. Navigate to the Checkout section in the design panel on the right.
Click on YES next to Internal to see it reflect on the canvas, then adjust the look of the button and text as desired.
Recommend one of your tiers
- To highlight or show one of your tiers as being recommended, scroll down to the Recommended section in the design panel on the right.
Click the arrow next to Price to choose from your available Paid Subscription tiers. You can also adjust the text from the default ‘Recommended’, or edit the look of how it appears above the card.
Customize the look of your Pricing block
- Further customize the appearance of your Pricing block by scrolling to the Layout and Cards section in the design panel on the right. From there, you can adjust padding, borders, background, and more.
Save your Pricing block as a template to reuse
- After designing the look and functionality of your Pricing block, you can save it as a template to reuse on other pages of your site. Select the Pricing block on the canvas, then, in the toolbar that appears above it, click the Save as template icon.
- In the module that pops up, give your Pricing block template a name and click Create.
Where to access and edit your Paid Subscription tiers

Here’s how to access and update your tiers:
- From the left panel dashboard, go to Monetize > Paid subscriptions.
- Underneath the main stats, click on the Paid Tiers tab.
- Go to the tier and click the 3 dots menu, then select Edit. You can also Archive or Delete the tier from here.
